PRESS STATEMENT ON THE CURRENT SITUATION IN THE COUNTRY
BY: NORTHRIFT PLATFORM FOR CITIZEN VOICES
We The Civil Society Organizations in North rift region under the combined umbrella Of Platform For Citizen Voices wish to congratulate all Kenyan citizens for turning up in large numbers and peacefully participating in the general elections held on Monday 4th March 2013.
We as North rift citizens stand together proud of maintaining peace and patience as we participated in the historic election and we say tuendelee kudumisha amani.
We also want to thank everyone for respecting the voting process. As results keep coming in we call for patience and peace .We need our country even after the results. Kenya moja. Jamii moja. Tudumishe amani.
We urge members of the communities living in this region to remain calm and accept the elections outcome as announced officially by the IEBC which is the official statutory body that determines the winner.
WE URGE dissatisfied POLITICAL LEADERS TO concede defeat or contest in the courts as they are very credible and capable to resolve election disputes.
We are not members of an ethnic community but citizens of a great nation. We cannot accept to destroy our nation because of politics. We should not allow ourselves to be divided on ethnic lines because of political differences.
We urge all Kenyans to remain united irrespective of the outcome and support all the leaders elected and declared winners.
May peace prevail in Kenya forever.
